Coming Soon to GOP Hub: 24/7 Video Streaming powered by Neokast

Written on 19 December 2007 by

GOP Hub has entered into a partnership with Evanston, IL-based NeoKast, a highly touted Internet video startup which has developed the most powerful video streaming software in the world. We hope to use this video streaming technology to allow GOP candidates and activists around the country an opportunity to broadcast live their stories about the 2008 campaign, free from the institutional bias and technical limitations found at popular internet video websites like YouTube and UStream.

It became clear following the 2006 mid-term elections that there had been a fundamental change in the ability of each party to package and distribute its message to voters on the Internet. The conservative movement has been a victim of its own demographics, in the sense that the average Republican voter is not likely to use the internet as their primary source of news and information. Rather, AM talk radio remains the epicenter of conservative intra-party debate, which has allowed the progressives to seize the day in terms of using the Internet to reach voters, influence public opinion and win elections. The time has come for the Right to fight back.

Once we have completed the design of a basic user-interface, we hope to launch initial channels in collaboration with the GOP presidential candidates, allowing each to both broadcast each live appearance their candidate makes, with the time between live broadcasts filled with collected and archived video that GOP Hub editors will edit in cooperation with the campaigns. Each “channel” will have its own sub-domain on GOPhub.com, and will include fund raising widgets and news feeds to supplement the video content, making each page a potential 24/7 “money bomb”, which have been pioneered by Ron Paul to raise over $10 million 48 hours. As director of strategy, I have grand ambitions for creating a true “hub” of American conservative internet users and our forthcoming video streaming service is the first phase in the war to win back the internet.

We are open to partnerships with journalists, 527 groups, PAC’s and conservative media outlets (both new and traditional) that might be interested in syndicating a particular GOP Hub channel on their blog or website, or creating their own distribution channel on our initially private network. More information coming soon…

A new feature has been added to GOP Hub to allow you to add the RSS feed from your blog (or another feed if you desire) to your profile.  To add it, visit your profile page (on the top bar of the GOP Hub site) and click the modify button to edit your personal details.  If you have your blog RSS feed in your profile, whenever you write a new post it will show it in your profile, and you can simply click the submit button for that post to begin the submit process.

GOP Hub Netvibes Universe and Facebook Group

Written on 8 August 2007 by

Jonathan and I have been very excited the last couple weeks as we have watched usage of the site go up steadily, and the reaction among conservative bloggers and web enthusiasts has been encouraging. We thank everyone for the attention they have drawn to GOP Hub and we are happy to have you on board as we develop into a platform that has incredible potential to become a revolutionary website in 21st century Politics 2.0 and internet social networking. As we continue to update site functionality and add different features, we would like to solicit feedback from our most dedicated users, as it is you guys who really matter.

Our recent conversations have focused on basic functionality, as the site has given us some minor headaches in these first few weeks, and as we hammer out these issues we would like to start offering new tools for collaboration and community building. We have discussed podcasts, images, adding more specific topics for submitting stories, and other possibilities. Before we do anything, we would like to be sure that there is an existing demand for such a service, so at this point we would like the users to submit their reviews of the site thus far, and let us know what new tools would be popularly adopted and used.

There have been a few things I have done that I haven’t really publicized at all yet. For example, I have built a Netvibes Universe that users of the popular start page service can add to their personalized Netvibes suite. Also, we have a Facebook group that is growing, but could use more participation from the larger GOP web presence.

Follow this button (which can also be found in the sidebar) to add the GOP Hub Netvibes Page to your Netvibes personalized homepage Universe- Add to Netvibes

New Friends Sidebar

Written on 29 July 2007 by

A new Friends sidebar has bas been added on the right sidebar. This shows 3 types of friends. Mutual friends are those that you have friended that have also friended you. My friends shows those you have friended that have not friended you yet. Friended me shows those who have friended you that you have not yet friended. Currently users can send private messages to any user they have added as a friend. There are several ways to add friends. For those who have only friended you, just click on the little add icon next to their name in the friends sidebar. On a news story, you can click the name of the submitter, and that will drop down a little option to add the person as a friend. You can also click the title of the Friends sidebar which will allow you to search through the profiles of the users. A user can be added as a friend from their profile.

Direct links to YouTube and Google Videos now automagically embed the video itself in the story description so you can just watch the video right here on the site. Should be a nice little time saver.
